Bring Dinosaurs to your School

Dinosaurs are a fascination for children. Our Dinosaur Workshops bring the excitement of dinosaurs to your school, visitor attraction, museum or science festival. For pupils learning about dinosaurs, Dinostar's Dinosaur Workshops are ideal.

The workshops feature interactive, hands-on sessions illustrated with some of Dinostar's fascinating collection of dinosaur exhibits. Children get an opportunity to study replica and genuine dinosaur fossils at close quarters.

Primary School workshops have now taken place from Glasgow to Southampton and from Cardiff to Great Yarmouth - and we have also visited High Schools for inspirational science workshops. We are prepared to run in-school workshops anywhere in the country; please contact us for a price.

Dinostar has also run successful dinosaur science workshops at Eureka! The National Children's Museum in Halifax, The Deep in Hull, Edinburgh International Science Festival and TechFest in Aberdeen.

For schools too far from our base in Hull, including school overseas, Dinostar also offers virtual dinosaur workshops from our museum. Our Zoom dinosaur workshops (or Teams if you prefer) bring our museum directly into your classroom, virtually.

Introduction to Dinosaurs

Our workshops include an illustrated, interactive talk about dinosaurs. They feature spectacular specimens of genuine and replica fossils from our museum. Highlights include a replica Allosaur skull (big, scary teeth!), a genuine dinosaur egg and a complete Triceratops leg bone.

This workshop is also available virtually, direct from our dinosaur museum in Hull to your school anywhere in the world!
Virtual dinosaur workshops feature some of our less portable exhibits including a complete dinosaur skeleton. Sessions take 45 minutes and can take place via Zoom or Teams.

Additional Workshops

As well as the "Introduction to Dinosaurs" workshop we offer two additional options for in-school workshops.

"Recreating Fossils" allows pupils to produce their own fossils using Brass Rubbing techniques and Plaster of Paris moulding.

"Fossil Dig" teaches pupils about the care required in excavating fossils and find identification. Any fossils the pupils find, they keep!

Timetables

Typically in-school sessions last between 30 minutes and an hour - shorter sessions are more suitable for younger children.

We are happy to fit any number of sessions into your timetable so that as many children as possible can attend. Alternatively a set of workshops can be arranged for a smaller number of classes.

Dinosaur Workshops are suitable for, and enjoyed by, all primary age children. Workshops have also been run in High Schools to inspire budding scientists.

Prices

We are prepared to travel long distances to run workshops. There have been successful workshops in many places across the UK including all the areas listed here.

The prices quoted are for a full day of workshops regardless of the number of workshops and children involved - "What you see is what you pay".

We offer a "no risk" policy for cancelled workshops; if the workshops have to be cancelled for any reason, there will be no charge.

If your area is not in this list, tell us where you are and we will send you a price by return.

Prices for virtual dinosaur workshops start from just £50 for a single 45-minute "Introduction to Dinosaurs". For multiple sessions please contact us with your requirements for a price.

Virtual workshops are delivered in English and are available worldwide.
